RETAIL SALES MANAGER (RSM) 

Summary 

The Retail Sales Manager role will include managing talent, motivating the sales team and ensuring each customer has an excellent experience in our store. The RSM is accountable for the overall profitability of the location which includes meeting and exceeding sales goals. Additionally the RSM must ensure the store meets all Verizon operating standards and Verizon customer satisfaction targets. The RSM is the lead for all employee-related issues, inventory management and auditing, and corporate policy and procedure compliance. 

Essential Functions 

Under general supervision from the Regional Manager (RM) the RSM role entails the following: • Customer experience in the store is the top focus area. The RSM will ensure that each customer receives a great experience and a custom-fit solution to their wireless needs.

  • Helping associates to build strong relationships with their customers, make expert recommendations, and help onboard customers like a pro. 
  • Hiring, training and developing the sales team, making staff adjustments as needed. 
  • Ensuring that the store meets or exceeds sales goals, that includes developing and monitoring store action plans for the accomplishment of daily/monthly sales goals, running huddle sessions and store meetings, and observing Mobile Associates (MA’s) and Mobile Experts (ME’s) in action and coaching them to improved performance. 
  • Overseeing all store functions including opening/closing, cash management, inventory control and audit compliance as well as the implementation of new store programs and initiatives. 
  • Setting the tone for the store with regard to knowledge as the RSM stays current on all our technology, price plans and customer programs as well as our competition making them an expert for their team, and their customers. 
  • Making sure the store meets merchandising requirements while always being clean, tidy and looking its best!

Additional Responsibilities 

  • Must be available to work mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays including most Fridays and Saturdays (see ADL policy on ADL zone labeled Standard Hours/Schedule for Store Managers) 
  • Must engage with MEs to maximize transactions of wireless products, accessories, services to new and existing customers. 
  • Will ensure MEs engage customers to uncover business sales opportunities.
  • Promote Verizon and Beyond Mobile through various platforms including social media, community events, outbound calling campaigns and customer referrals using only approved measures. 
  • Monthly written evaluations of all team members. 

Education / Experience Requirements 

  • Prior sales and sales management experience with a customer focused retailer.
  • Previous consultative sales in consumer technology, coupled with a demonstrated record of high achievement. 
  • Wireless retail experience preferred but not required. 
  • Experience in operational, financial and performance management. 
  • A high school degree or GED is essential, while a Bachelor’s degree is preferred. 

Knowledge / Skills Needed 

  • Leadership skills required to build teams, develop people and coach people to deliver great results. 
  • Entrepreneurial attitude and an ability to work with little supervision in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Expert level mastery of sales techniques with regard to products and services. 
  • Skilled and accomplished in the areas of customer service and relationship building skills. 
  • Well experienced with point-of-sale and customer service tracking systems. 
  • Demonstrated ability to excel with teamwork, motivational skills and project management skills. • Demonstrated ability to create and deliver performance improvement plans to a diverse group of adult mobile sales experts. 
  • Ability to thrive in an environment of constant change. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills demonstrating the ability to communicate and present ideas effectively, clearly and concisely. Bi-lingual in Spanish is a plus. 
  • Strong computer proficiency including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. 

Physical Requirements 

  • Ability to bend, stoop, sit, squat and stretch as well as lift up to 10 pounds. 
  • Use of computer/keyboard and general office equipment. 
  • Requirement to stand for long periods of time in order to provide the best customer service. 

Travel Requirements: No travel required.
